Enhancing Education With Smarter Tech Solutions at Boundary Oak School
Discover how ITEC, a Xerox Business Solutions Company, helped Boundary Oak School achieve print and connectivity solutions that save money and enhance learning, thanks to its Technology Managed Services.
About the Client
Boundary Oak is an independent day and boarding school for children aged from two to 16. The school is set within 30 acres of quintessentially English countryside and is known for its family ethos which fosters a personal, tailored and exciting approach to education.
The Challenge
Overhauling print and connectivity
The existing print set up at Boundary Oak was expensive to run, unreliable and a drain on resources, as staff were frequently required to spend time fixing issues. It also lacked the capability to offer much-needed visibility across the school’s printing output. The school needed a smarter print solution — and more modern machines — in order to reduce print costs, improve security and gain much-needed insights into print volumes. Boundary Oak School has a stunning Grade II listed main building which was built in the 13th Century. While the old building of the school is part of its charm, the old existing network infrastructure was not. The existing system was an ineffective solution that frequently dropped out and caused problems. When the school built a state-of-the-art design and tech centre, it was the perfect opportunity to overhaul connectivity.
The Solution
A smarter approach
As part of a Managed Print solution 18 modern, all-in-one Xerox printers — or MFDs — were supplied and installed. ITEC Engineers setup Xerox Workplace Suite to enable cost control, content security and mobility workflows. The ITEC team used their specialist experience at helping schools with connectivity to create a bespoke HP Aruba network.
The new design and technology centre was linked across the site using Fibre and Aruba network switches and new wireless access points were established for optimum performance.
The Results
Technology for enhanced learning
Thanks to ITEC’s Technology Managed Services, the staff and students at Boundary Oak school now benefit from a Managed Print solution that is more modern, more cost-effective and much easier to use. They can also enjoy modern, reliable connectivity that enhances learning — rather than frequently dropping out and causing frustration.
