The Challenge
Required a solution to respond to complex and timely DSARs
In response to client requests, the law firm wanted to launch a product to help its clients respond to complex and timely DSARs. Typically, DSARs contain large amounts of sensitive data that needs to be reviewed and, in most cases, redacted, particularly if it relates to a person other than the requesting subject.
Using paralegals and lawyers for the review and redaction process can be time-consuming and expensive. Paris Smith wanted to leverage innovative technology to solve this complex problem.

Leveraging technology for an innovative solution
The law firm needed a technology solution that was capable of automatically detecting third-party personal and sensitive data and enabling advanced redaction across an entire dataset. Having the criteria, Paris Smith turned to their Managed IT Services provider, ITEC, a Xerox Business Solutions Company, to help with the search.
ITEC introduced Paris Smith to Smartbox.ai and after a review and selection process, Paris Smith chose Smartbox.ai as their DSAR technology partner.

Up to 90% time saving automating large datasets
Using Smartbox.ai’s array of AI powered features, each specifically designed to ease the DSAR headache, Paris Smith has cut DSAR processing times by up to 90%. This is partly down to Smartbox.ai’s ability to reduce DSAR datasets by 95-99% by automatically removing duplicated data and email threads.
Having understood their DSAR challenges, Paris Smith initially positioned Smartbox.ai to assist with and streamline the internal process. However, this soon developed as an opportunity for the firm to establish a DSAR offering ‘as a service’, and things have flourished from there.
