A department that plays an important role in your Managed Print Service partnership is Pre-Sales. In the latest entry of the ‘Meet ITEC’ blog series, we talk to Alex Morgan, your senior pre-sales consultant who specialises in Managed Print…
Who are you?
I’m a senior pre-sales consultant at ITEC. I work with the sales team to provide the best solutions possible to our customers. This includes scoping, documenting and providing proof of concepts when customers demand. I focus on Managed Print, but I also speak to customers about the general Technology Managed Services package.
How long have you worked at ITEC?
12 years. I’ve done different roles and moved around the business working for multiple departments.
How did you find yourself at the Pre-Sales Department?
I moved from Support into Pre-Sales. The key difference for me is the fact I can now meet more customers face to face, speak to new people and visit places I’ve never been before. My role has enabled me to do this. No day is the same, and it’s exciting.
Is this why you became a senior pre-sales consultant?
I guess. When I joined the company 12 years ago I started at the bottom as an apprentice, and worked my way up through various roles and departments. I’ve always felt supported and encouraged to try to test my skills and ideas. When this role came up, the versatility appealed to me. I can work from the office and see all my lovely colleagues, work from home and spend more time with my family, and I get to travel around the country -- this is always a bonus.
What does your average day look like?
On an average day I’m interacting with the ITEC Account Management teams. I produce quotes or statement of works, and I meet with customers about the current and upcoming projects I’m working on. Sometimes, this involves going out into the field and installing a proof of concept for the customers to trial with their users.
Why do you like doing your job?
I have a great boss and great colleagues -- many are now great friends. Every day is different and I have a great work-life balance, which is ideal as a family man. It’s absolutely amazing where a photocopier can take you! From prisons to the offices of famous companies to schools and to small enterprises, the variety of businesses who need Managed Print is staggering. I love how, even on a slow working week, I meet lots of people and no one is ever the same.
What attracted you to ITEC?
I played football with a member of senior management so I knew ITEC was in good hands. I thought, if everyone is as friendly and personable as him, then this is a company I would like to work for. I was delighted when they accepted me onto the apprenticeship scheme 12 years ago and I haven’t looked back since.
What’s been your favourite moment working at ITEC?
Recently, I was lucky enough to go to Dublin with the team. It was fantastic.
What was your dream job when you were growing up?
I always wanted to be a professional footballer and play for Manchester United.
What’s a fun fact about yourself that no one at ITEC knows?
My auntie was Mayor of Bath in 2002.
