ITEC to "Enhance" Bristol Sport as Their New Official IT Partner

Henry Bevan, March 21, 2019

Success on the pitch requires success off the pitch. That scorching goal/try/slam-dunk scored by your new signing, only happens because of something most people don’t think about: the IT.

Your favourite player is on the pitch because someone in the office emailed, scanned or photocopied player contracts sent to and from a rival club. Sometimes, sports teams still fax. You can buy a beer, coffee, orange squash because the IT keeps the tills up and running and the fun flowing. You can’t even enter the stadium with automation, as ticket guards have been replaced with electric scanners.

Bristol Sport has grand plans on the horizon, including the re-development of Aston Gate’s surrounding area with plans to build a 4,000-capacity sports and conference centre, training facilities and a technology overhaul of Ashton Gate. They knew they needed strong IT backed up by a Managed Service Provider with a history of unrivalled support. Bristol Sport chose ITEC to be their Official IT Partner.

Following the rebuild of the stadium and the number of planned projects for our group we needed an IT partner that would not only enable that but actively help us enhance it.”

Jon Lansdown, Bristol Sport Chairman

The three-and-a-half year deal means ITEC delivers a complete IT service across sports facilities in and around Bristol. We will be managing the IT infrastructure and providing specialist match day support to keep all stadium systems such as tills, lighting and computers operating smoothly.

ITEC has set up a dedicated onsite IT help desk, installed two full time IT staff members onsite and will provide a fully managed remote monitoring and maintenance service. Additionally, we will provide consultancy on the redevelopment of Bristol Sport’s existing IT network and roll outs at the various new sites.

“Following the rebuild of the stadium and the number of planned projects for our group we needed an IT partner that would not only enable that but actively help us enhance it,” says Bristol Sport chairman Jon Lansdown. “ITEC Group impressed throughout the tender process and we look forward to reaping the rewards that this engagement will bring, fully modernising the IT infrastructure of our sporting group.”

We already had close ties to Bristol Sport. ITEC was born in Bristol and many staff members have fond memories of the past successes of Bristol City, Bristol Bears and Bristol Flyers. We have recently sponsored the successful Bristol Flyers team with the logo appearing on the jersey, and the corporate box at Ashton Gate is always busy.

“The entire company is celebrating this contract. We’re so proud to have been chosen to support such an iconic Bristol success story, and the fact that there are a lot of Bristol City and Bears fans in the ITEC office doesn’t hurt either,” says ITEC chairman Nick Orme. “The breadth and depth of IT projects that will take place over the coming years at Bristol Sport are really exciting. We’re looking forward to adding tangible value with our integrated approach, and focusing on delivering a robust and reliable IT infrastructure so that Bristol Sport can get on with its impressive core mission.”

ITEC is a major player in the sport & leisure market, and is working with Somerset County Cricket Club as their Official Technology Partner to turn the Cooper Associates Ground into a world-leading stadium.
